Announcing our latest Community Member Spotlight... @fshahin31
Announcing our latest Community Member Spotlight... Faheem was one of the first Community Members back in December 2022. Since then, he's been asking excellent questions to help implement the Quantexa Platform and, more recently, sharing tech tips to help out other Community Members - which has earned him the accolade of our December Community Member of the Month 👏 Faheems is a Data Engineer with NextWave Consulting, we caught up with him to learn more about his experiences with Quantexa. How long have you been using Quantexa and what version do you use? I am currently using version 2.6.8 and have been using Quantexa since June 2022. What’s your favourite thing about the Community? My favourite part of the Community is how easy it is to find solutions or similar errors to the ones I'm facing. The threaded discussions make it simple to understand how the original problem was tackled, which really helps improve my approach to various challenges on my project. It's also great for staying up to date with the latest Quantexa updates. How often do you use the Community? I use the Community most days. What’s the best feature of the Quantexa platform? The best feature of the Quantexa platform has to be its User Interface (UI). It offers an easy and comprehensive view of vast amounts of data, which really helps us to understand the relationships in our data. Plus, the ability to customise UI components, like attributes and key client information, makes it even more engaging and useful. What’s the life hack everyone should know? One of the best productivity hacks I've found is using tools like 'Pomodoro timer' to focus on work in blocks without distractions. Also, I've been using an app called Opal which stops me from endlessly scrolling on my phone by removing access to certain apps for whatever time period I set. It's honestly a game-changer! Tell us a fun fact about yourself! I'm a very big fitness enthusiast who regularly goes running, gym, and CrossFit with my sight set on a 1:35:00 Brighton half marathon time in March 2025. And hopefully, work my way towards my first Hyrox in 2025/26! As a Member of the Month, Faheem will receive our December Member of the Month badge (worth 100 points) and a box of community-branded goodies. Want to know more about NextWave Consulting? Models and qmodels Models are a type of file in Data Fusion that represents a Document in your system, such as a: Customer Watchlist Transaction A Model contains a collection of fields, attributes, and inputs, depending on the data in the associated Document. Model configuration files have the extension .qmodel, such as customer.qmodel. After loading the data, you can represent it in The Quantexa Platform as Nodes within a Network. Entities and qentities Entities are created by associating data Records that represent something in the real world, such as information found in Documents about an individual, address or bank account, which is then resolved to form an Entity, such as an Individual, Address, Email or Business Entity. Entities are represented in the UI as Nodes and can be changed or adjusted using Entity Lab. 🔎 Interested in learning more? Alerting is the name for the process that comes after Scorecard creation and before Task loading into a Quantexa Deployment. Alerting decides which Subjects in the Scorecard output should alert to the end-users. Re-Alerting is an Alerting process that occurs after the first Alerting cycle, when new Scorecard data becomes available. Re-alerting logic compares a Subject's Scorecard output with all previous Scorecard outputs. The aim of this process is to ensure that there is new material risk that an Investigator would like to review. It is strongly encouraged that all deployments with Batch Scoring implement Alerting. As an investigator you may have found that the use of entities and networks are helpful for identifying potential risk in the investigation process, using connections across documents and entities. However, seeing all the available data connected by way of transaction flows, trades, direct links or indirect links can present its own challenges. Substantial amounts of data in a network can sometimes be difficult to navigate. Where do you start? How do you find how many hops to expand then stop? What do you do with the information which is no longer useful to the investigation? Kafka Data Ingest handles near real-time ingestion of raw Documents into the platform. This enables you to perform ad-hoc Document ingestion and implement larger-scale integrations with event-streamed data sources. Kafka Data Ingest consists of two sets of services, each running within a separate application: Record Extraction service: The Record Extraction service handles the Cleansing, Parsing, and extraction of Records from raw Documents. Document Ingest service: The Document Ingest service loads extracted Records to Elasticsearch for use within Quantexa services and the UI. Read more about Kafka Data Ingest on the Documentation site. Note: Kafka Ingest was referred to as Kafka Loader before version 2.1.61Views1like0CommentsNew guide: Using the Entity Quality Underlinking (EQU) tool for the first time 📖
