Adding the Unify workload: technical prerequisites

This page outlines the technical prerequisites for adding the Unify workload.

NOTE: This page is intended for users who already have some experience of using Microsoft Fabric. For example, you have already set up a capacity and have the appropriate Fabric licenses and administrative privileges.

Complete the steps outlined on this page to set up your technical prerequisites:

1. Add the Quantexa Unify workload to the tenant, either globally or in a specific capacity

Only a Fabric Administrator can do this, and to do so, they must complete the following steps:

  • Navigate to the Workloads panel in Fabric.
  • Select the More Workloads tab.
  • Select the capacities to which you want to add the workload, as shown in the following image:

NOTE: The workload may take up to 15 minutes to attach to your tenant. If you attempt to use the workload before the process is complete, you may see an error on project creation and a 400 error when trying to reach an artifacts endpoint. If you see this error, wait 15 minutes from when you added the workload and check again. By this time, the error typically disappears.

2. Set up the Quantexa Unify Enterprise Application
  • Ensure you have the Azure Storage Enterprise Application installed in your tenant. In most cases, your tenant already has this installed unless you have a brand-new tenant.
  • Ensure you are at least a Cloud Application Administrator. This is necessary to perform the initial workflow, which creates the Quantexa Unify Enterprise Application on your Azure tenant.
3. Launch your workload
4. Complete the authentication and permissions workflow
  • The first time you launch the Unify workload in Fabric, the frontend launches an authentication flow. This adds an Enterprise Application to the client tenant, which grants delegated permissions to the Quantexa workload on behalf of the current user.
  • The following image shows an example consent form that the Fabric workload presents when you access it for the first time.
  • Click Accept on the box to create the workload.

NOTE: You must be at least a Cloud Application Administrator to grant consent to the workload for the first time.

  • After clicking Accept, the workload creates a Quantexa Unify Enterprise Application in your Azure tenant.

IMPORTANT: If you receive errors or encounter issues while completing this authentication and permissions workflow, it may be due to your organisation's firewall. Before proceeding further, liaise with your internal IT or InfoSec team to ensure you have the necessary firewall permissions to complete this workflow and launch your Unify workload.

5. Create a new Quantexa Unify Project

After completing the authentication and permissions workflow, you can create a new Quantexa Unify Project from the Fabric homepage on your tenant. For more details, see the Quantexa Unify: Product Tour.

6. Grant any additional user consents

If additional users want to use the Fabric workload, they must also consent to the permissions outlined in Step 5.

The simplest way to grant permissions for additional users is for an administrator to provide consent on behalf of their organization, essentially providing consent for all users. The following image shows how to do this:
